A Life Transformed by Adversity
İbat Yalçin, a 32-year-old father of four living in Derecik, Turkey, experienced a life-altering event in 2011. While studying at a Quran course and attending high school in Istanbul, he was involved in a traffic accident that resulted in the loss of both his legs below the knees.
Finding Strength Through Faith
Following the accident, Yalçin returned to his hometown and faced a challenging year of recovery. He refused to be defined by his circumstances, seeking employment and preparing for the Public Personnel Selection Examination for Disabled Individuals (EKPSS). He found strength in patience, as he later reflected: “My greatest key, my greatest weapon, was patience.”
A Career Dedicated to Faith
Five years ago, Yalçin was appointed as a muezzin by the Ministry of Religious Affairs and assigned to Niğde. He subsequently transferred to the Derecik District Mufti’s Office, continuing his dedication to serving his community.
