- Offering assistance to those in need, regardless of their circumstances

- Staying in touch with distant relatives through letters or calls
These actions strengthen family bonds and prevent misunderstandings that could lead to estrangement. Avoiding hurtful words and behaviors is also a crucial aspect of maintaining these relationships.
Quranic Guidance
The Quran emphasizes the importance of kindness towards relatives, stating:
“Worship Allah and associate nothing with Him. And treat your parents with kindness and relatives and orphans and the needy…” (4:36)
Prophetic Teachings
A companion asked Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), “O Messenger of Allah, tell me about an act that leads to Paradise.” The Prophet (peace be upon him) replied:
“Worship Allah and associate nothing with Him, perform the prayer, pay the obligatory charity, and maintain ties with your relatives.” (Bukhari, “Adab”, 10; Muslim, “Iman”, 4)
The Consequences of Neglecting Family
Showing kindness to relatives is a pathway to Paradise. Conversely, severing these ties leads to deprivation of blessings. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said:
“Those who sever the bonds of kinship will not enter Paradise.” (Bukhari, “Adab”, 11; Muslim, “Birr”, 6)
