What Does ‘Evvah’ Mean?
The story begins when the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) entered his home one day and found Zeyneb bint Jahsh (may Allah be pleased with her) engaged in prayer, pouring out her heart in sincere supplication to Allah. He then remarked:
“Indeed, she is an Evvah.”
The term ‘Evvah’ signifies a person who supplicates and pleads with humility and reverence, their hearts filled with longing and sorrow for the sake of Allah. Zeyneb (may Allah be pleased with her) was known to be a deeply emotional individual, overflowing with love for Allah and finding immense joy in constant communion with Him through heartfelt tears.
