Allahummagfirli Prayer: The Mysterious Supplication Between Tashahhud and Salam by Our Prophet
This important supplication, performed by our Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) between the tashahhud and salam in prayer, is a precious treasure that every Muslim should know and benefit from.
According to a narration from Hz. Ali (may Allah be pleased with him), Our Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would recite the following supplication:
اَللَّهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِي مَا قَدَّمْتُ، وَمَا أَخَّرْتُ، وَمَا أَسْرَرْتُ، وَمَا أَعْلَنْتُ، وَمَا أَسْرَفْتُ، وَمَا أَنْتَ أَعْلَمُ بِهِ مِنِّي، أَنْتَ الْمُقَدِّمُ، وَأَنْتَ الْمُؤَخِّرُ، لآ إِلَهَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ
“Allahummagfirli mâ kaddamtü vemâ ahhartu, vemâ esrartu vemâ a‘lentü, vemâ esraftu, vemâ ente a‘lamü bihî minnî, ente’l-mukaddimü ve ente’l-muahhir, lâ ilâhe illâ ente”
Meaning of the Prayer
The meaning of this supplication is: “O Allah! Forgive me for what I have done before, and what I will do in the future, and the sins that I concealed and declared, and the excesses I committed. You know me better than I know myself. You are the one who brings forward, and You are the one who delays. There is no deity worthy of worship except You.”
