Salawat is an important act of worship in Islam. Literally, it’s the plural form of the word ‘salat’ and refers to the prayers made when mentioning the name of our Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) – Hz. Our Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) also provided important information on this subject in his hadiths:
“The one who sends the most salawat and greetings to me is the closest of you to me.” (Tirmizi, Vitr, 21/484)
