How to Pray in Berat Kandil? How to Revive the Berat Night?
Allah Almighty says:
“He is the Forgiver of sins, the Reliever of affliction, knowing what you do.” (Shura, 25)
The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said:
“When the fifteenth night of Sha’ban arrives, rise in worship during that night. And fast on the day of that night. For when the sun sets on that night, Allah Almighty descends to the nearest heaven (in a state whose nature is unknown to us) and until dawn: ‘Is there anyone who seeks forgiveness so that I may forgive him? Is there anyone who asks for sustenance so that I may provide it for him? Is there anyone afflicted with a trial so that I may relieve him? Would such a one be present? Would such a one be present?’”
HOW TO REVIVE THE NIGHT OF BERAT?
Three times the Surah Yasin and its prayer will be recited after the evening prayer on the fifteenth night of the blessed Sha’ban. The first Noble Yasin will be recited with the intention of being among the blessed servants of Allah. The second time it is recited with the intention of a long and auspicious life. The third time it is recited for forgiveness of sins and calamities and for righteous sustenance.
Also one hundred rak’ahs of prayer are performed after Isha in the Night of Berat, giving two salutations. In each rak’ah, ten repetitions of the Noble Ihlâs are recited after the Fatiha. If one is not able to recite ten repetitions of the Noble Ihlâs, he recites five or three times. After this prayer is completed, as much as he can recite Salawat-i Sharif and with a pure heart repent and seek forgiveness from Allah Almighty and ask for his worldly and hereafter needs. May our Lord grant us to benefit fully from this night. Amen!
O Allah! Who bestows countless blessings and favors upon Your servants, who does not need their reward! You are the Most Majestic and Generous Lord! You are the One who grants us, Your humble servants, endless blessings and opportunities! There is no god but You! You help those who seek refuge in You! You are the only resort for those who fear and take refuge.
O my Lord, if You have written me in Your book near You, on the Tablet of Preserved Knowledge, as a bad, deprived person, banished from divine mercy, a poor man, then erase this evil fate of mine with Your grace; O Allah! Erase this destiny of being an unrepentant, deprived person, condemned to live a life of hardship. Write me down in Your main book among the righteous, pious servants, those whose sustenance is abundant, rich and competing in good deeds and successful.
O Allah! -Your word is truth- As spoken by the tongue of our Noble Prophet, You said in Your sacred Book: “Allah removes [what He wills] and confirms [what He wills]. And with Him are the originals of the books.” (Surah Ra’d, 39)
Divine! “Every matter is decreed by a command at a known time.” (Surah Duhan, 4) We ask You to remove from us the calamities and tribulations that You know and we do not know with the greatest manifestation of Your blessed fifteenth night of Sha’ban. Surely You are the Lord of infinite power and strength! Our Lord who is generous in grace and kindness!
O Allah! Send blessings and peace upon our Master, our Prophet Hazrat Muhammad, his family, his companions, his offspring, his purified wives! Accept our prayers through the respect of your beloved! Amen!..
