Reciting the Qur'an, which is the final word of the Exalted Allah, is an act of worship with the highest reward and merit. According to the statements of the early scholars (salaf), none of the acts of worship are equal to reciting the Qur'an.
"The believer who recites the Qur'an is like a citron whose fragrance and taste are both pleasant. The believer who does not recite the Qur'an is like a date, which has a good taste but no fragrance. The hypocrite who recites the Qur'an is like basil, whose fragrance is good but whose taste is bitter. The hypocrite who does not recite the Qur'an is like the colocynth, which has no fragrance and a bitter taste." (Bukhari, Fadāʾil al-Qur'an, 36; Tawhid, 57)

What Should Be Recited Before Beginning the Khatm Supplication
After completing the khatm, it is considered appropriate to begin the khatm supplication with the following phrases, while also observing the conditions for the acceptance of supplication:
Recitation: Ṣadaqallāhu’l-ʿaẓīm wa ballagha Rasūluhu’l-Karīm. Wa naḥnu ʿalā dhālika mina’sh-shāhidīn. (Allah, the Exalted, has indeed spoken the truth, and His Noble Messenger has conveyed it to us. We are among those who bear witness to this.)
Recitation: Rabbanā āmannā bimā anzalta wa’t-tabaʿna’r-Rasūla fa’ktubnā maʿa’sh-shāhidīn. (Our Lord! We have believed in what You have revealed and have followed the Messenger, so record us among the witnesses.)
Meaning: "Allah, the Exalted, has indeed spoken the truth. Our Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) has conveyed it to us.
We are among those who bear witness to this.
Our Lord! We have believed in what You have revealed and have followed the Messenger. So record us among the witnesses. (Āl ʿImrān, 3/53)
Or, briefly:
Recitation: Subḥāna Rabbiyal-ʿaliyyil-aʿlal-wahhāb. (Glory be to my Lord, the Most High, the Most Exalted, the Bestower.)
Meaning: "I glorify my Lord, the Most High, the Most Exalted, and the Most Generous"—after saying this, the supplication is begun.

With the above short opening, the following Arabic khatm supplication or its Turkish version may also be recited as an example:
- Al-ḥamdu lillāhi Rabbi’l-ʿālamīn.
- Wa’l-ʿāqibatu lil-muttaqīn. Wa lā ʿudwāna illā ʿalā’z-ẓālimīn.
- Waṣ-ṣalātu wa’s-salāmu ʿalā Rasūlinā Muḥammadin wa ālihi wa ṣaḥbihi ajmaʿīn.
- Rabbanā taqabbal minnā innaka anta’s-samīʿu’l-ʿalīm.
- Wa tub ʿalaynā yā Mawlānā innaka anta’t-tawwābu’r-Raḥīm.

- Yā qāḍiya’l-ḥājāti! Yā mujība’d-daʿawāti! Istajib duʿā’anā bi raḥmatika yā arḥama’r-rāḥimīn.
- Subḥāna Rabbika Rabbi’l-ʿizzati ʿammā yaṣifūn. Wa salāmun ʿala’l-mursalīn. Wa’l-ḥamdu lillāhi Rabbi’l-ʿālamīn. al-Fātiḥa
The Meaning of the Khatm Supplication:
Praise be to Allah, the Lord of the worlds. The good outcome is for those who have taqwa (God-consciousness). Enmity is only against the wrongdoers. Blessings and peace be upon our Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), upon all his family and the Companions (ṣaḥāba).
O our Lord! Accept our acts of worship from us! Surely, You are the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing.
O our Master! Accept our repentance! Surely, You are the Oft-Returning, Most Merciful. Grant us hudā (guidance)! Make us successful in reaching the truth and the straight path (ṣirāṭ al-mustaqīm)! For the sake of the Noble Qur'an, for the sake of the Prophet whom You sent as a mercy to the worlds.
O Generous Allah! Forgive us. O Merciful Allah! Forgive us. O Allah, the most generous of those who show generosity! Forgive our sins with Your grace and bounty.
O Allah! Adorn us with the adornment of the Qur'an. Honor us with the honor of the Qur'an. Ennoble us with the nobility of the Qur'an. Clothe us with the garment of the Qur'an. Admit us to Your Paradise by the intercession of the Qur'an. For the sake of the Qur'an, protect us from all the calamities of this world and the punishment of the Hereafter. O Merciful, O Compassionate! Have mercy on the entire ummah of Muhammad.
O Allah! Make the Qur'an our companion in this world. Make it our friend in the grave. On the Day of Resurrection, make it our intercessor, make it a light for us on the bridge (ṣirāṭ). Make it our companion in Paradise. Make it a veil and barrier for us against the fire of Hell. With Your grace, generosity, and bounty, make it our guide and leader to all good things.

The Virtue of Reciting the Qur'an
Indeed, in a verse, it is stated that reciting the Book of Allah is a gain that will never incur loss:"Indeed, those who recite the Book of Allah, establish prayer, and spend out of what We have provided them, secretly and publicly, can expect a profit that will never perish." (Fāṭir, 35/29)
In another verse, the believers are praised for spending their nights engaged with the Qur'an:"They are not [all] alike. Among the People of the Scripture is a community standing [in obedience], reciting the verses (āyāt) of Allah during periods of the night and prostrating [in prayer]." (Āl ʿImrān, 3/113)
