Meaning: In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. And peace and blessings be upon our master Muhammad, his family, his companions, and those who follow him. O Allah! You are Eternal, Ancient, the First, and Your grace is immense, and Your existence encompasses all things, you are the one to be relied upon. A new year has arrived. We ask You for protection within it from Satan, his allies, and his armies, and for assistance against this soul that commands evil, and to engage in what brings me closer to You, O Possessor of Majesty and Honor! And peace and blessings be upon our master Muhammad, the unlettered prophet, his family, and his pure and righteous companions. All praise is due to Allah, Lord of the worlds.
Dua to be Recited During the First 10 Days of Muharram

Meaning: In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. O Allah! You are Eternal, Ancient, Alive, Generous, Affectionate, and Bestowing. I ask You in this new year for protection from the rejected Satan. And for assistance against this soul that commands evil, and to engage in what brings me closer to You, O Possessor of Majesty and Honor! With Your mercy, O Most Merciful of the merciful!

Special Dua for 10th Muharram (Ashoora Day)

Meaning: Allah is sufficient for us, and He is the best of those who rely upon Him. He is the best Master and the best Helper. (Repeated 70 times) Then… In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. I glorify Allah to the fullness of the scale, the end of knowledge, the extent of satisfaction, and the weight of the Throne. There is no refuge or escape from Allah except to Him. I glorify Allah as many times as there are even and odd numbers, and as many times as all the complete words of Allah are. I ask You for safety with Your mercy, O Most Merciful of the merciful! And there is no power and no strength except in Allah, the Exalted, the Magnificent. And He is sufficient for me. He is the best of those who rely upon Him. He is the best Master and the best Helper. May Allah send peace and blessings upon our master Muhammad, the best of His creation, his family, and all his companions. Amen.
