Prayers to Recite for Parents from the Quran
PRAYERS TO RECITE FOR OUR MOTHER AND FATHER
Surah Ibrahim, Verse 41
Recitation: “Rabbenāgfirlī ve li vâlideyye wa lil mu’minîne yevme yekūmul hisāb.”
Meaning: “Our Lord! Forgive me and my parents and all believers on the Day of Reckoning!” This prayer is a sincere supplication for the forgiveness of our parents on the Day of Judgment.
Surah Isra, Verse 24
Recitation: “…Rabbirhamhumā kemā rabbeyânī sagîrâ.”
Meaning: “…My Lord! Have mercy on them as they brought me up when I was young.” This prayer is asking Allah to show mercy to our parents just as they showed us compassion and love during our childhood.
Surah Naml, Verse 19
Recitation: “…Rabbi evzı’nī en eşkure ni’metekelletî en’amte aleyye wa alâ vâlideyye wa en a’mele salihan terdâhu wa edhılnī bi rahmetike fî ibâdikes sâlihîn.”
Meaning: “…My Lord! Grant me the ability to be grateful for the blessings You have bestowed upon me and my parents, and to perform righteous deeds that You will approve of. Include me among Your righteous servants through Your mercy!” This prayer expresses our gratitude towards our parents while also asking Allah to guide us toward righteous actions.
Surah Nuh, Verse 28
Recitation: “Rabbigfirlī wa li vâlideyye wa li men dehale beytiye mu’min(e) wa lil mu’minîne wel mu’minât(mu’minâti)…”
Meaning: “My Lord! Forgive me, my parents, those who enter my home as believers, and all believing men and women…” This prayer includes seeking forgiveness for our family and all believers.
Surah Ahkaf, Verse 15
Recitation: “…Rabbi evzı’nī en eşkure ni’metekelletî en’amte aleyye wa alâ vâlideyye wa en a’mele sâlihan terdâhu wa aslıh lî fî zurriyyetî, innî tubtu ileyke wa innî minel muslimîn.”
Meaning: “…My Lord! Grant me the ability to be grateful for the blessings You have bestowed upon me and my parents, and to perform righteous deeds that You will approve of. And make my descendants righteous. I repent to You and I am among the Muslims.” This prayer expresses our gratitude towards our parents while also making a beneficial supplication for future generations.
