Prayers for Virtuous Children: Nurturing Your Offspring with Blessings from the Quran

The greatest aspiration of believers is to raise a virtuous and righteous generation. This generation will be individuals who bring joy to their families and benefit society. In the Quran, sons are referred to as “Hayrulhalef” (the best successors), and daughters as “Sâlihât-ı nisvan” (righteous women), holding great importance for the future of families and communities. Therefore, alongside our efforts to have virtuous children, we must turn to Allah in prayer. Here are some supplications mentioned in the Quran, recommended for recitation with the hope that our generations will be blessed:

Virtuous Children Prayers from the Holy Quran

Surah Al-Imran, Verse 38

Meaning: “My Lord, grant me [a child] from among the righteous.” Surely You are the Hearing of supplications.” (Surah Al-Imran, Verse 38)

Recitation: “…Rabbi heblī min ledunke zurriyyeten tayyibeh(tayyibeten), inneke semîud duâ’(duâi).”

Surah Al-Furqan, Verse 74

Meaning: “…Our Lord, grant us good spouses and righteous offspring, and make us leaders [in righteousness].” (Surah Al-Furqan, Verse 74)

Recitation: “…Rabbenâ heb lenâ min ezvâcinâ wa zurriyyâtinâ kurrata a’yunin wa ejaclnâ lil muttakîne imâmâ.”

Surah Al-Ahqaf, Verse 15

Meaning: “…My Lord, grant me the ability to be grateful for Your favor which You have bestowed upon me and upon my parents, and to do righteous deeds that You approve of. And enable me and my offspring to continue [doing] good works wherever we are. Indeed, You are the All-Knowing, the Most Capable. And I have submitted myself to your religion and indeed I am of the Muslims.” (Surah Al-Ahqaf, Verse 15)

Recitation: “…Rabbi evzı’nî en ashkure ni’metekelletî an’amta aleyye wa ‘alâ wālidayy and to do righteous deeds that You approve of. And enable me and my offspring to continue [doing] good works wherever we are. Indeed, You are the All-Knowing, the Most Capable. And I have submitted myself to your religion and indeed I am of the Muslims.”

Prayers of Prophet Ibrahim (peace be upon him)

Meaning: “O my Lord, grant me a righteous [son] from among the pious!” (Surah As-Saft, Verse 100)

Recitation: “…Rabbi heb lî mines sâlihîn.”

Meaning: ”O my Lord! Make me and my offspring maintain the prayer, and accept our supplications. O our Lord! You are indeed Worthy of Praise, the Most Majestic!” (Surah Ibrahim, Verse 40)

Recitation: “Rabbi’lkinî mukîmes salâti wa min zürriyyatî rabbenā wa taqabbal du’ā.”

Prayers of Prophet Ibrahim and Prophet Ismail (peace be upon them)

Meaning: “O our Lord! Make us submit to You, and of our offspring a nation [that] submits [to You]; O our Lord, and make us leaders [in righteousness], and accept our repentance. Indeed, You are the Acquiring Praise, the Most Merciful.” (Surah Al-Baqarah, Verse 128)

Recitation: “Rabbenā wa ejaclnā muslimayn leka wa min zürriyyatina ummatan muslimatan leka wa erinâ manāsikenā wa tüb ‘aleynā inneke antat-Tawwāb ar-Rahīm.”

Prayer of Prophet Zakariyya (peace be upon him)

Meaning: “…My Lord, do not leave me without an heir. And grant me from Your servants a righteous [one].” (Surah Al-Anbiyah, Verse 89)

Recitation: “…Rabbi lâ tezernî ferden wa ente hayrul wārithīn.”
