The Divine Order in Nature and the Mystery of Mountains
Contemplation (tafakkur) is the highest form of understanding that revives the believer’s heart and allows them to grasp the majesty of their Creator. The earth and all within it, filled with scenes worthy of reflection, are a vast book for those with insight (basirat). If one does not wish to be content with the miracles within their own self, they must turn their face towards nature. Seeing how Allah Most High has spread the earth and expanded its surroundings is a profound subject for contemplation. Mountains have been driven into the earth like pegs to allow it to find tranquility and avoid shaking; sweet waters spring forth from hard rocks, giving life to the soil. Were these waters not held within these harsh rocks, they would all be released at once, destroying the earth and ruining crops. All of this is a testament to absolute knowledge (ilm) and wisdom (hikmah).
The Orderliness of Rain and Drops of Mercy
When springtime arrives, the earth comes alive thanks to the rain that descends upon it, turning green and adorning itself with a thousand beautiful colors. One of the most beautiful manifestations of Allah’s grace (lutf) is rain. Rain does not descend from the sky in a torrent all at once; Allah Most High sends it drop by drop, separating it in the air so as not to harm His servants or vegetation. Each raindrop falls with direction towards its designated place. Seedlings on the verge of drying out are washed with these waters, and the roots of trees absorb this water of mercy through hidden channels. As humans observe this orderliness (intizam), they realize that Allah’s compassion (shafakat) and mercy permeate every particle.
The Wisdom of Snow, Clouds, and Climates
There are great secrets hidden in the fact that water descends from the sky not only as rain but also as snow. The drops falling to earth encounter cold air currents along the way, freezing into snowflakes and spreading across the ground like cotton scattered by a carder (hallaç). If Allah Most High did not offer countless people, plants, and animals access to all the oceans and waters of the world, life could not continue. Clouds gather together, winds carry them, and they release their water at precisely when the earth needs it most. This entire ecological balance is not a self-operating, unconscious mechanism; rather, it is part of the chain of countless blessings bestowed upon His servants by the All-Knowing, the Almighty, and the infinitely Merciful Creator.
