Prayers to Recite in the Month of Safer

The month of Safer is the second month according to the Hijri calendar. There are important supplications that Hazrat Mahmud Sami Ramazanoğlu recommended reciting in the month of Safer. These prayers are a valuable opportunity for spiritual abundance and drawing closer to Allah.

Prayers and Supplications Performed on the First Wednesday Night of the Month of Safer

On the first Wednesday night of the month of Safer, four Rak’ah Nafl (supererogatory) prayers are performed before Fajr prayer. The recitations in each Rak’ah are as follows:

  • 1st Rak’ah: Seventeen Surahs Al-Kawthar after Surah Al-Fatihah
  • 2nd Rak’ah: Five Sharifs Al-Ikhlas after Surah Al-Fatihah
  • 3rd Rak’ah: One Surah Al-Filak after Surah Al-Fatihah
  • 4th Rak’ah: One Surah An-Nas

After the prayer, supplications are made to Allah.

Prayers and Supplications Performed on the Last Wednesday of the Month of Safer

Similarly, two Rak’ah prayers are performed on the last Wednesday night or day of the month of Safer. In these prayers as well, eleven Sharifs Al-Ikhlas are recited after Surah Al-Fatihah in each Rak’ah. After the prayer, seven times Istighfar is sought, hands are raised to the sky, and after reciting Salatul Munjiya eleven times, the following supplication is performed:

“O Allah! Protect me and my family members and all believers from earthly and heavenly calamities and from all kinds of tribulations!”

Long Dua to Recite in the Month of Safer

“In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

O Allah! Send blessings and peace upon our Prophet, Muhammad, and his family, and make them blessed!

O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the evil of this day, and from all kinds of severity, tribulation, calamity, and misfortune that is in this day and in what Your knowledge contains. O Ya Dehr, Ya Diyar, Ya Keynan, Ya Keynun, O First, O Eternal, O Creator, O Reviver, O Possessor of Majesty and Generosity, O Lord of the honored Throne, You do whatever You will.

O Allah! By the sanctity of the righteous and chosen servants, I seek refuge in You from all calamities and misfortunes. Protect me, my family, my religion, and my worldly affairs with Your mercy, O Most Precious, O Forgiving, O Generous, O Concealer, O Most Merciful of those who show mercy!

O Allah! O the Mighty and Powerful One, O Shaddid, O Aziz, O Karim, O Kabir, O Mutala’, You have made all creatures submit. O Muhsin, O Mujmil, O Mutfaddil, O Mun’im, O Mukrim, there is no god but You.

O Latif! You created the heavens and the earth with grace, be gracious in Your judgments and decrees concerning us, grant us safety from calamities, and strength and power are only by Your help, O Most Merciful of those who show mercy!

Allah is sufficient for me, and He is the best disposer of affairs. Power belongs to Allah alone. May Allah send blessings and peace upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his companions!”
