A Special Prayer for the First Day of Muharram
With the arrival of the Hijri New Year, we enter the month of Muharram. On this special day, we share with you the prayer recommended to be recited three times on the first day of Muharram, along with its meaning.

Bismi’llâhi’r-rahmâni’r-rahîm
“Wa sallâ’llâhu ‘alâ seyyidinâ muhammedin wa âlihi wa sahbihi wa sellem. Allâhümme ente’l-ebediyyü’l-kadîmü’l-evvelü wa ‘alâ fazlûke’l- ‘azîmû wa cûdûke’l- ‘amîmû- mu‘avvelû wa hâzihi ‘âmun jedîdün kad akbele nes’elüke’l-‘ısmete fîhi mine’ş-şeytâni wa evliyâihi wa junduhu wa’l-‘avne ‘alâ hâzihi’n-nefsi’l-emmâreti bi’s-sûi wa’l-iştiğâle bi-mâ yukarribunî ileyke zülfâ yâ zê’l-celâli wa’l-ikrâmi wa sallâ’llâhu ‘alâ seyyidina muhammedini ’n-nebiyyi’l-ümmiyyi wa ‘alâ âlihi wa ashâbihi’t- tayyibîne’t- tâhirine wa’l-hamdü li’llâhi rabbi’l-‘âlemîn.”

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
May Allah (SWT) send blessings and peace upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his companions!
O Allah! You are Eternal, Ancient, and the First. Your grace and generosity are immense. Your generosity encompasses all things and is a refuge for everyone.
A new year has arrived. We beseech You to protect us this year from Satan, his allies, and his armies.
We seek Your help against this soul that constantly commands evil.
I ask for your assistance so I may be occupied with what brings me closer to you, O Allah, Lord of Majesty and Generosity!
May Allah send blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, the unlettered prophet, his family, and his blessed and pure companions!
