Does Prayer Truly Determine the Victory in Jihad?
Hocaefendi Osman Nuri Topbaş illuminates the truth of jihad and prayer. In this article, we will address the importance of spiritual support alongside material power and the role of prayer in wars.
What is the Place and Importance of Prayer in Jihad?
Jihad and prayer are two important elements that complement each other. One represents the physical front, while the other represents the spiritual front. Both are indispensable. The backs of soldiers fighting on the front lines are strengthened by the support of a praying nation, and their morale is superior to that of the enemy. Spiritual fortitude is the most powerful force influencing victory.
The Power and Impact of Prayer in Jihad
Our nation’s prayers are an invisible power for our soldiers on the front lines. Even the souls of those who have attained the rank of martyrdom continue to fight. These truths have been experienced throughout our history. Our lands and fronts are filled with martyrs who did not surrender their homeland.
Therefore, we should pray for our glorious children as a nation, bid them farewell to their patriotic duties with prayers. Especially in the early hours, we should make supplications for the victory of Islam and Muslims.
Let us remember the following prayer that Prophet Dawud (peace be upon him) made when the faithful soldiers of Talut’s army confronted Goliath’s army:
“…O our Lord! Grant us perseverance, strengthen our feet, and help us against the disbelievers.” (Al-Baqarah, 250)
Furthermore, we should strive to recite Surah Al-Fath every morning.
May Allah grant us material and spiritual victories through the sincerity of our prayers as a nation, the supplications of oppressed Muslims, and the sacrifices of our border troops.
While the existence of these brave individuals gladdens us, it should also prompt us to think about the future.
Let’s not forget that prayer alone is not enough! We must also make an effort, work hard. Because raising a generation of true patriots is a never-ending jihad.
Our young women should raise devout and valiant children, and fathers should nurture them with the Quran to grow into heroes who will write epics in the way of religion and homeland. Thus, the golden lines in our glorious history will continue.
God willing, there will be faithful generations embraced with love under the Banner of Praise of the Best of Mankind (Prophet Muhammad). As Mehmet Akif expressed:
O martyr son, do not ask for a grave from me,
The Prophet is waiting with open arms…
