What is the Virtue of the Dhikr “Subhanallahi ve bihamdihi adede halkıhî…?”
The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) preferred concise yet profound dhikrs and supplications. Among these is the dhikr beginning with “Subhanallahi…” which possesses immense virtues.
One day, after performing Fajr prayer, Lady Jwayriyah (may Allah be pleased with her) was sitting in the place where she had prayed. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) emerged from his home early. When he returned home at midday, he saw that Lady Jwayriyah was still sitting in the same spot:
“Have you been sitting here since I left, occupied with dhikr?” he asked. The esteemed lady replied, “Yes.” The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) then said:
“The four sentences that I repeat three times after leaving you would equal the reward of what you have recited in dhikr from dawn until now:
سُبْحَانَ اللّٰهِ وَبِحَمْدِهِ عَدَدَ خَلْقِهِ وَرِضَا نَفْسِهِ وَزِنَةَ عَرْشِهِ وَمِدَادَ كَلِمَاتِهِ
“Subhanallahi wa bihamdihi adede halkihi wa rida nafsihi wa zinata arshihi wa midada kalimatihi.”
I glorify Allah to the extent of His creation, as much as He is pleased with Himself, equal to the weight of His Throne and the ink of His words.
