The Prophet’s (peace and blessings be upon him) Recommended Prayer During Times of Calamity, Distress, or Tribulation
The Messenger of Allah – peace and blessings be upon him – said:
When a servant is afflicted by a calamity:
Recitation: “Inna lillahi wa inna ileyhi raci’un”
Meaning: ‘Indeed, we belong to Allah and indeed, to Him we will return.’ (Surah Al-Baqarah, 156)
Then he should say:
Recitation: “Allahumme’curnî fî musîbeti wa ehlifnî hayran minhe”
Meaning: ‘O Allah! Grant me reward for this calamity and compensate me with something better than it.’ Then Allah will reward him through this means and grant him something better.”
