The Importance of Reciting Allahumma Salli and Barik Prayers in Salah
Reciting the Allahümme salli and barik prayers during the final sitting (sitting) of prayer is a practice from the Sunnah of our Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), as confirmed by hadith. These supplications are an important way to ask Allah Almighty for blessings and mercy upon Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and his family.

Recitation of the Allahumma Barik Prayer
Allâhümme bârik alâ Muhammedin wa alâ âli Muham- mad. Kamā bārakta alā Ibrāhīma wa alā âli Ibrāhīm. Innaka hamīdun majīd.
Meaning of the Allahumma Barik Prayer
The meaning of the Allâhümme barik prayer is as follows:
MEANING: “O Allah! Bestow blessings upon Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) and his family, just as You bestowed blessings upon Abraham and his family. Indeed, You are worthy of all praise and majestic.” Through this supplication, we ask for the same blessing that was given to Prophet Abraham (peace be upon him) and his family, to be granted to our Prophet (peace be upon him) and his family.
Hadith Related to Allahumma Salli and Barik Prayers
In a narration from the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), when the companions (Sahabah) wanted to learn how to send blessings upon him, he said:
“Allâhümme salli alā Muhammedin wa alā âli Muham- mad, kamā salleyte alā âli Ibrāhīm, innaka hamīdun majīd. Allâhümme bârik alā Muhammedin wa alā âli Muham- mad, kamā bārakta alā âli Ibrāhīm, innaka hamīdun majīd”: “O Allah! Bestow mercy upon Muhammad and his family, as You bestowed mercy upon the family of Abraham. Indeed, You are worthy of praise and majestic. O Allah! Grant blessings upon Muhammad and his family, as You granted blessings upon the family of Abraham.
