What is the meaning of the supplication “Allāhummaghfir lī hatī’atī wa jahli…”?

The Messenger of Allah – peace and blessings be upon him – made the following supplication:

Recitation in Turkish: “Allāhummaghfir lī hatī’atī wa jahli wa isrâfî fî amrî wa mā ente a‘lamu bihî minnī. Allāhummaghfir lī jiddī wa hazlī, wa hata’ī wa amdī wa küllü zālika indī. Allāhummaghfir lī mā qaddamtü wa mā ahhartü, wa mā asrartü wa mā a‘lantü, wa mā ente a‘lamu bihî minnī, anta al-muqaddimü wa anta al-muahhir, wa anta ‘alā külli shay’in kadīr.”

Meaning: “O Allah! Forgive my sins, what I did due to ignorance, the excesses in my affairs, and all those wrongdoings You know better than I do. O Allah! Forgive my serious and playful actions, my intentional and unintentional sins, and I confess that all these shortcomings are within me. O Allah! Forgive what I have done beforehand, what I will do afterward, what I concealed and revealed, the excesses in my actions, and those wrongdoings You know better than I do. You are the one who brings forward, and You are the one who leaves behind. Your power is sufficient for all things.” (Bukhari, Da’awat 60; Muslim, Zikr 70)
