Our Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) emphasized the virtues and importance of Laylat al-Qadr, announcing that those who spend this night in worship will have their past sins forgiven.

“Whoever stands [in prayer] on the Night of Power, believing with certainty and hoping for reward only from Allah, all his previous sins will be forgiven.” (Muslim, Musafirīn, 175)

Lady Aisha (RA) asked our Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) how to pray if she knew which night Laylat al-Qadr was, and he recommended the following prayer:

The Written Arabic of the Laylat al-Qadr Prayer:

اَللَّهُمَّ إِنَّكَ عَفُوٌّ تُحِبُّ الْعَفْوَ فَاعْفُ عَنِّي

The Recitation of the Laylat al-Qadr Prayer:

“Allahumme innake afuwwun tühıbbü’l-afve fa’fu annî”
