Meaning of the Dua
The Arabic text, Turkish pronunciation, and meaning of the Laylatul Qadr prayer (Allahumme innake afuwwun tuhibbul afve fa’fu anni) taught by our Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) to Lady Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her).
Our Prophet -sallâllâhu aleyhi wa sallam- has stated the importance and virtues of Laylatul Qadr as follows:
“Whoever spends the night of Qadr believing in its merit and seeking its reward only from Allah – excluding rights to fellow human beings – will have his past sins forgiven.” (Muslim, Musafirīn, 175)
The Laylatul Qadr Prayer Taught by Our Prophet to Lady Aisha
Aisha -radıyallâhu anhā-, asked the Prophet -sallâllâhu aleyhi wa sallam-:
“O Messenger of Allah! If I knew which night that was, how should I pray?”
The Prophet -sallâllâhu aleyhi wa sallam- recommended the following prayer:

اَللَّهُمَّ إِنَّكَ عَفُوٌّ تُحِبُّ الْعَفْوَ فَاعْفُ عَنِّي
