Why is the Allahumme Innī Zulemtu Nafsī Prayer Recited?
Our Prophet, the Pride of Creation – peace and blessings be upon him – recited this supplication for the forgiveness of his sins:
Meaning: “O Allah! I have greatly wronged myself. If You forgive sins, then who except You? So grant me forgiveness with Your inexhaustible generosity, and have mercy on me. For indeed, endless is Your forgiveness, and boundless is Your mercy.” (Bukhari, Azan 149, Adab 17, Tawhid 9; Muslim, Zikr 48)

Allahumme innī zelemtu nefsī zulmen kebīran, fağfir lî mağfirah min indike, innehû Semî’ul Alīm.

O Allah! I have greatly wronged myself, so grant me forgiveness from Your presence. Indeed, You are the All-Hearing and the All-Knowing.
