How Do Angels Pray for You?
The Messenger of God (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “The supplication of a Muslim for his brother in his absence is accepted. Whenever a person prays for good for his brother, an appointed angel by his side says, ‘Amin, and may you have the same.’” (Muslim, Dhikr 87, 88. See also Ibn Mājah, Manāsik 5)
Prayers That Please Allah the Exalted
The mutual love of the believers, their wishing for each other's well-being and happiness, and their praying for one another’s good, greatly pleases Allah the Exalted. To reward His servants who possess such a broad heart as to think of others, He employs the means described in the hadith. That is, when a person wishes good for his brother in faith or prays for the removal of a difficulty afflicting him, the angel appointed at his side says “āmin” (meaning “May Allah accept your prayer”), and then adds, “May what you wished for your brother be granted to you as well.” Praying for a Muslim in a way that he does not hear is more acceptable in the sight of Allah, as it is completely free from ostentation and showing off. It is narrated that when ʿUmar ibn al-Khaṭṭāb asked the Messenger of God (peace and blessings be upon him) for permission to perform ʿumra, he said to him: “Do not forget us in your supplication, my dear brother!” or “My dear brother! Include us in your supplication as well!” Accordingly, we should both pray for our Muslim brothers and sisters, and also ask them to pray for us.
