How to Pray for Guidance? Prayers Made by Our Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) for his Ummah to Find Guidance…
The Messenger of Allah -peace and blessings be upon him- made many prayers for the guidance of his Ummah. These prayers aimed to open the doors of guidance both for himself and for all Muslims.
EXAMPLES OF PRAYERS FOR GUIDANCE
He prayed, “O Allah! Turn their hearts towards us!” (Tirmidhi, Manakib, 71/3934), for the guidance of the people of Yemen. This prayer is a supplication made with the desire to convey Islam’s message to different cultures and communities.
Regarding the Taifites, who stoned him from their towns and resisted fiercely until the ninth year of Hijri, causing great losses to the Muslims, he supplicated to Allah, “O Lord! Grant guidance to the people of Sakif! Send them to us!” (Ibn-i Hisham, IV, 134; Tirmidhi, Manakib, 73/3942). This prayer is a sincere plea for even enemies to attain guidance.
Again, the Most Honorable Prophet -peace and blessings be upon him- while sending Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) as a judge to Yemen, placed his hand on his nephew’s chest, who was worried about the responsibility of the task he undertook, and made this prayer:
“O Allah! Guide his heart to righteousness, and make his tongue firm upon the truth.”. This prayer draws attention to the importance of guidance in establishing justice and truthfulness.
Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) says:
“After this prayer, I never hesitated while judging between two people.” (Ibn-i Maja, Ahkam, 1). This hadith demonstrates the effect and importance of the Messenger of Allah’s prayers.
