Prayers to Recite for Eye Pain and the Enlightenment of the Eyes
Eye pain is a discomfort we frequently encounter, especially under today’s conditions. There are prayers that can be recited to cope with this condition and protect eye health. Here are the prayers that those experiencing eye pain and desiring enlightenment in their eyes can recite:
Prayer to Recite Before Morning Prayer
Every day, between the obligatory (fard) and sunnah prayers of morning prayer, hold your right hand on your forehead fifteen times and recite the following supplication:
Arabic:
Turkish Pronunciation: Rabbenâ etmim lenâ nûranâ vaġfir lenâ(s) inneke ‘alâ kulli şey-in kadîr(un).
Meaning: Our Lord, complete our light and forgive us; surely You are able to do all things. (At-Tahrim, 8)
After reciting this supplication each time:
Arabic:
Turkish Pronunciation: Yâ Nûr, yâ Basîr! Yâ Nûr, yâ Basîr!
Meaning: O Illuminator of the worlds; O All-Seeing, Watchful One! (Make this supplication for Allah’s help and healing.)
Also, recite it five times:
Arabic:
Turkish Pronunciation: Ya rabbi kavvi besari allahümme eşfi enteşşafi allahümme a’fintelmuaf.
Meaning: O Lord, strengthen my eyesight; O Allah, grant healing, You are the Healer; O Allah, grant well-being, You are the Forgiver! (This supplication is made for attaining eye health.)
The person who recites these prayers will, by the grace of Allah, not experience eye pain. If there is a disease in their eyes, they will receive healing by the grace of Allah.
Recitation of Surah Hadid and Surah Hasr
A person experiencing eye pain or losing sight due to the effect of a disease, raises his hands and recites the first four verses of Surah Hadid with the last three verses of Surah Hasr, then:
Arabic:
Turkish Pronunciation: Allahümme’ş-fi ente’ş-şafi allahümme âfi ente’l-muafi.
Meaning: O Allah, grant healing, You are the Healer; O Allah, grant well-being, You are the Forgiver! (This supplication is made for attaining eye health.)
If he rubs his eyes, the Exalted –azze wa celle– will remove the disease from his eyes and grant healing. By the grace of Allah, the light of his eyes will increase.
Verse Increasing Eye Light
Every morning, recite the following verse seven times on each thumb nail and rub your eyes, by the grace of Allah, one’s vision and eyesight will improve, and pain and harm will not befall their eyes:
Arabic:
Turkish Pronunciation: Fekeşefnâ ‘anke ġitâeke febesaruke-lyevme hadîd(un). Ve sallallahu ala seyyidina muhammedin ve alihi ve sahbihi ve sellem.
Meaning: …Then We removed from you your veil, so that today your sight is sharp.” (Kaf, 22) May Allah send blessings and peace upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, his companions, and all those who follow him!
