Surah Al-Anbiya (The Prophets) Verse 83: “…Ennî Messeniyed Durru ve Ente Erhamur Râhimîn.” Dua

This supplication, or *dua*, represents a servant’s acknowledgment of their helplessness before the majesty of Allah, coupled with feelings of love and reverence as they seek His grace and assistance. The word “duā” encompasses meanings such as “to call, to invoke, to desire, and to request help”; it is generally understood as a plea or entreaty from the lesser to the greater. Making *dua* is an act of worship encouraged in the Quran and Sunnah (Hadith). Verses like, “Fear Allah and hope in Him. It is only to Allah that you will return.” (Al-A’raf 7:56) and “There is nothing more precious than supplication in the sight of Allah.” (Tirmidhi, Du’a, 1; Ibn Majah, Dua, 1) support this.
