The Arabic Recitation and Meaning of the Supplication “…Rabbi enzilnī munzalan mubārakan wa anta khayru’l-munzilīn” in verse 29 of Sūrat al-Mu’minūn

Supplication (dua – dua [supplication]) is the servant’s confession of his own incapacity before the majesty and sublimity of Allah, and his request for Allah’s grace and help in a spirit of love and reverence. The word dua (supplication) carries the meanings of “calling, addressing, requesting, and seeking help,” and is most often used in the sense of “a request and plea made from the lesser to the greater, from below to above.” Making supplication is praised and encouraged in the verses (ayat – āya [verse]) and hadith (hadith [prophetic tradition]). “Call upon Him in fear and hope.” (al-A‘rāf, 7:56) “There is nothing more noble in the sight of Allah than supplication.” (Tirmidhī, Da‘awāt, 1; Ibn Mājah, Dua, 1)

Sūrat al-Mu’minūn: Verse 29

Recitation: “…Rabbi enzilnī munzalan mubārakan wa anta khayru’l-munzilīn.”

Meaning: “…O my Lord! Cause me to land at a blessed landing place, for You are the best of those who bring to land.”

THE SUPPLICATION PROPHET NOAH MADE AFTER DISEMBARKING FROM THE ARK

Allah, exalted is He, taught them how they should supplicate both when they boarded the ark and when they were about to disembark.

When they boarded and settled in the ark:

الْحَمْدُ لِلّٰهِ الَّذ۪ي نَجّٰينَا مِنَ الْقَوْمِ الظَّالِم۪ينَ

(Al-ḥamdu lillāhi alladhī najjānā mina’l-qawmi’ẓ-ẓālimīn)

That they should say: “Praise be to Allah, who has saved us from the wrongdoing people.”

And when they were about to disembark:

رَبِّ اَنْزِلْن۪ي مُنْزَلًا مُبَارَكًا وَاَنْتَ خَيْرُ الْمُنْزِل۪ينَ

(Rabbi enzilnī munzalan mubārakan wa anta khayru’l-munzilīn)

That they should say: “My Lord! Cause me to land at a safe and blessed landing place. For You are the best of those who bring to land!” For everything occurs only by the will, permission, grace, and generosity of Allah, exalted is He. The source of all goodness, salvation, and success is He. These are also examples of supplications that are very beneficial for believers (mu’min – mu’min [believer]) to recite when traveling or settling in a new place.

They made this supplication, and Allah, the Exalted, responded to their supplication, saying:

“O Noah! Disembark with peace from Us and blessings upon you and upon nations [descending] from those with you.” (Hūd 11:48) (Prof. Dr. Ömer Çelik’s Exegesis, kuranvemeali.com)
