What does “Fe kalu alellahi tevekkelna…” mean?
Dua (Supplication) is a servant’s acknowledgement of their powerlessness before the majesty and sublimity of Allah, coupled with feelings of love and reverence, while seeking His grace and assistance. The word dua carries meanings such as “to call, to summon, to desire, and to seek help,” and it is primarily used to denote “a request or petition from the lesser to the greater, from the lower to the higher.” Making dua is praised and encouraged in verses and hadith (prophetic traditions). “Fear Him and implore Him with hope.” (Al-A’raf [The Heights], 7:56) “There is nothing more precious than supplication in the sight of Allah.” (Tirmidhi, Adab, 1; Ibn Majah, Dua, 1)

Recitation: “Fe kâlû alâllâhi tevekkelnâ, rabbenâ lâ tec’alnâ fitneten lil kavmiz zâlimîn.”
Meaning: “We place our trust in Allah alone. O Our Lord, do not make us a trial for the unjust people!”
