Hatim means “to memorize or recite the entire Quran from beginning to end.” Those who perform this sacred task experience great peace and closeness in their spiritual lives.
The Prophet (peace be upon him) emphasized the virtue of reciting the Quran in his hadith:
“Recite the Quran. For on the Day of Resurrection, it will come forward as an intercessor for those who recite it.” (Muslim, Musafirīn 252.) This hadith shows us the importance and value of reciting the Qur’an in the afterlife.

Arabic Recital of the Hatim Prayer:
The Hatim prayer is one of the supplications performed when we finish reciting the Quran. This prayer is recited with the intention of seeking forgiveness from Allah and gaining His pleasure.

- “El-hamdü lillâhi Rabbil-‘âlemîn.”
- “Vel-‘âkibetü lil-müttekîn.”
- “Walā ‘udvâne illā ‘alezzalimîn.”
- “Ves-salâtü ves-selâmü ‘alâ Rasûlinâ Muhammedin wa ‘âlihî wa sahbihî ecme’în.”
- “Rabbenā takabbel minnā inneke ente’s-semī’ul-‘alîm.”
- “Wa tüb ‘aleynā yā Mevlānā inneke ente’t-tevvâbür-Rahîm.”
- “Vehdinā wa veffiknā ilel-hakkı wa ilā tarīkın müstekîm. Bi beraketil-Kur’ânil-‘azîm.”

Meaning of the Hatim Prayer:
All praise is due to Allah, Lord of the Worlds. The final outcome belongs to the righteous. There will be no offense except against the wrongdoers. Peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), his family, and his companions all together.
O Our Lord! Accept [our devotion] from us, indeed, You are the Hearing and the Knowing.
O Our Lord! Grant us forgiveness, for you are the Oft-Forgiving, the Most Merciful. Guide us to the straight path, and grant us success in reaching it. By the blessings of the Mighty Quran.
By the sanctity of him whom You sent as a mercy to the worlds. O the Noble Allah! Forgive us. O the Compassionate Allah! Forgive us. O the most noble of those who grant grace! Forgive our sins by Your favor and generosity.
O Allah! Adorn us with the beauty of the Quran. Honor us through the nobility of the Quran. Ennoble us with the splendor of the Quran. Clothe us in the garment of the Quran. Admit us to Paradise by the intercession of the Quran. Protect us from every calamity of this world and the torment of the Hereafter by the sanctity of the Quran. O Compassionate, O Most Merciful! Have mercy on all the followers of Prophet Muhammad.
O Allah! Make the Quran a companion to us in this world. Make it a friend to us in the grave. Make it an intercessor for us on the Day of Resurrection. Make it a light for us over the Bridge (Sirat). Make it a companion for us in Paradise. Protect us from the Fire with its nobility. Guide us to all virtuous paths by Your generosity, bounty and nobility.
Guide us with the guidance of the Quran. Save us from the Fire through its nobility. Raise our ranks with its virtue. Forgive our sins by the merit of what we have recited. O Judge of needs! O Responder to supplications! Accept our prayer through Your mercy, O Most Merciful of those who show Mercy.
Glory be to your Lord, the Mighty, the Exalted, above all that they attribute to Him. And peace be upon the messengers. All praise is due to Allah, Lord of the Worlds. Al-Fatiha
