“Hünalike Dea Zekeriyya Rabbeh…” Prayer: What is it for? (Verse 38 of Surah Ali Imran)
Du’a (Supplication) is a servant’s acknowledgement of their powerlessness before the majesty and sublimity of Allah, coupled with feelings of love and reverence, while seeking His grace and assistance. The word Du’a carries meanings such as “to call, to invoke, to desire, and to seek help,” and it is often used to describe “the request and entreaty that occurs from the lesser to the greater, from the lower to the higher.” Making du’a has been praised and encouraged in verses and hadith. “Fear Him and hope for His mercy and supplicate to Him sincerely.” (Al-A’raf 7:56) “There is nothing more honorable before Allah than supplication. ” (Tirmidhi, Du’awat, 1; Ibn Majah, Dua, 1)

“At my Lord, grant me [a descendant] pure and righteous. Indeed, You are the Hearing of supplications.”
