The Supplication Recommended by the Prophet (peace be upon him) After the Adhan
As hearts find peace with the news of the Adhan, our Prophet (peace be upon him) emphasized the importance of supplications made after the Adhan. These supplications are ways to seek refuge in the mercy of our Lord and to open the door of intercession. The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: “Whoever hears the Adhan and says “Allāhümme rabbe hâzihi’d-da‘veti’t-tâmme wa’s-salâti’l-kāime âti Muhammeden el-vesîlete ve’l-fazîlete wa’b‘ashü makāmen mahmûdeni’llezî vaadteh.” then, on the Day of Resurrection, intercession is obligated for him.” (Bukhari, Adhan, 8; Tafsir, 17/11. The Meaning and Importance of the Dua
This dua has profound meanings. In a narration by Bayhaqi, the dua ends with:
“There is no doubt that You do not break Your promise!” added. (as-Sunan al-Kubra, I, 603)
Recitation of the Dua to be Recited After Adhan
Recitation: “Allahumme Rabbe hezihi’d-da’veti’t-tâmme. Vesselatil kâimeti âti Muhammedenil vesilete vel fazîlete vebashu makâmen Mahmudenillezi waadteh.”
Meaning: “O Lord of this complete call and the standing prayer! Grant Muhammad -peace and blessings be upon him- the wasila (means of approach) and virtue, and raise him to the Praised Station that You have promised him!” then I will surely intercede for him.” (Bukhari, Adhan, 8; Abu Dawud, Salat, 37/529)
