The Recommended Prayer of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) to Recite in Times of Calamity, Distress, and Tribulation
Calamities, difficulties, and tribulations encountered in daily life deeply affect individuals. In these challenging times, our prayers are a refuge. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) has transmitted a specific prayer for such situations.
The Prayer for Those Facing Calamity
The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
A servant afflicted by calamity:
Recitation: “Inna Lillah wa inna ilayhi raji’un”
Meaning: ‘Indeed, we belong to Allah and indeed, to Him we will return.’ (Surah Al-Baqarah, verse 156)
And then saying:
Recitation: “Allahumme’curnī fī musībatī wa ehlifnī hayran minha”
Meaning: ‘O Allah, grant me reward for this calamity and compensate me with something better than it.’
Then, Allah will reward him through this means and give him something better.”
