What to Say When Starting a New Task? Prayers for the Beginning of Work
When starting a new job, it is a traditional practice in accordance with Islamic etiquette and manners to first recite Bismillah and then make a supplication (du’a). This practice involves seeking refuge in Allah and praying that the work be blessed and completed easily.
SAY “BISMILLAH” BEFORE EVERY TASK!
Duas are recited to seek Allah’s help and ease in our daily tasks. Our Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) made an important reminder on this matter, saying: “Every significant task that is not begun with Bismillah is deficient.” (Ali al-Muttaqi, Kanzu’l-Ummal, I, 555, no: 2491). This hadith clearly demonstrates the importance and blessing of Bismillah.
Recitation: “Bismillahirrahmanirrahim.”
