What to Say When Starting a Task? Recommended Prayers at the Beginning of Work
In our working lives or when embarking on any endeavor, drawing Bismillah and reciting a supplication (temcim) as the first step is among Islam’s etiquette and decorum. This practice serves as a means for our endeavors to progress with ease and auspiciousness, by Allah’s permission.
SAY “BISMILLAH” BEFORE EVERY TASK!
Supplications (temcim) can be recited to seek Allah’s assistance and ease in our endeavors. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) gave an important advice regarding this:
“Every significant work that is not begun with Bismillah has a deficiency in its end.” (Ali al-Muttaqi, Kanzu’l-Ummāl, I, 555, no: 2491)
Recitation of Bismillah: “Bismillahirrahmanirrahim.”
