The Supplication of Prophet Ibrahim (peace be upon him) That Became the Means for the Blessing of Mecca

The human family, which began with Adam and Hawwa (Eve), in order to live in an atmosphere of religious peace and happiness, initially took as their first place of worship the location of the Kaʿba in present-day Mecca. The descendants of Adam, due to changing vital and social circumstances, spread to various lands; centuries passed, generations changed, deviations from the true religion occurred, and after a while, this sacred sanctuary was lost.

THE SUPPLICATION OF PROPHET IBRAHIM (PEACE BE UPON HIM) THAT BECAME THE MEANS FOR THE BLESSING OF MECCA

Prophet Ibrahim (ʿalayhi s-salām) rebuilt it by the command of Allah (God), and through his supplication, became the means for the blessing of that land. In the noble verse it is stated:

"And [mention, O Muhammad], when Abraham said, 'My Lord, make this city [Mecca] secure and keep me and my sons away from worshipping idols. My Lord, indeed they [idols] have led astray many among the people. So whoever follows me, then he is of me; and whoever disobeys me—indeed, You are [yet] Forgiving and Merciful. Our Lord, I have settled some of my descendants in an uncultivated valley near Your sacred House, our Lord, that they may establish prayer. So make hearts among the people incline toward them and provide for them from the fruits that they might be grateful.'" (Ibrāhīm, 35–37)
