Prophet Prayers from the Quran

The Prayer of Adam (peace be upon him) and Eve

رَبَّـنَا ظَلَمْنَٓا اَنْفُسَنَا وَاِنْ لَمْ تَغْفِرْ لَنَا وَتَرْحَمْنَا لَنَكُونَنَّ مِنَ الْخَاسِر۪ينَ

“…Rabbenâ zalemnâ enfusenâ wa in lam taghfir lanā wa tarhamnā le nakûnenne minel hâsirîn(hâsirîne).”

“…Our Lord! We have wronged ourselves, and if You do not forgive us and have mercy upon us, we will surely be among the losers.” (Surah Al-A’raf, verse 23)

The Prayers of Noah (peace be upon him)

رَبِّ اِنّ۪ي اَعُوذُ بِكَ اَنْ اَسْـَٔلَكَ مَا لَيْسَ ل۪ي بِه۪ عِلْمٌ وَاِلاَّ تَغْفِرْ ل۪ي وَتَرْحَمْن۪ٓي اَكُنْ مِنَ الْخَاسِر۪ينَ

“Rabbi innî eûzu bike an as’alaka mâ leyse lî bihî ilm(ilmun), wa illâ taghfir lī wa tarhamnī akun minel hâsirîn.”

“…My Lord! Indeed, I seek refuge in You from asking you for that of which I have no knowledge. And if You do not forgive me and have mercy upon me, I will surely be among the losers.” (Surah Hud, verse 47)

رَبِّ انْصُرْن۪ي بِمَا كَذَّبُونِ

“…Rabbinsurnî bimâ kezzebûni.”

“…My Lord! Grant me victory over them for that which they have invented against me!” (Surah Mu’minun, verse 26)

رَبِّ اغْفِرْ ل۪ي وَلِوَالِدَيَّ وَلِمَنْ دَخَلَ بَيْتِيَ مُؤْمِناً وَلِلْمُؤْمِن۪ينَ وَالْمُؤْمِنَاتِ وَلَا تَزِدِ الظَّالِم۪ينَ اِلَّا تَبَاراً

“Rabbigfirlî wa li vâlideyy wa liman dekhala beytiy mu’minan wa lil mu’minîne wal mu’minâti wa lâ tezidiz zâlimîne illâ tebârâ.”

“My Lord! Forgive me, my parents, those who entered my home as believers, and the believing men and women. And do not add to the wrongdoers except in ruin.” (Surah Nuh, verse 28)

The Prayers of Lot (peace be upon him)

رَبِّ نَجِّن۪ي وَاَهْل۪ي مِمَّا يَعْمَلُونَ

“Rabbi neccinî wa ehlî mimmâ ya’melûn(e).”

“…My Lord! Save me and my family from that which they are doing.” (Surah Shu’ara, verse 169)

رَبِّ انْصُرْن۪ي عَلَى الْقَوْمِ الْمُفْسِد۪ينَ

“….Rabbi unsurnî ‘alâ-lkavmi-lmufsidîn(e).”

“…My Lord! Grant me victory over the corrupt people.” (Surah Ankabut, verse 30)

The Prayers of Abraham (peace be upon him)

رَبِّ هَبْ ل۪ي حُكْماً وَاَلْحِقْن۪ي بِالصَّالِح۪ينَ  وَاجْعَلْ ل۪ي لِسَانَ صِدْقٍ فِي الْاٰخِر۪ينَ وَاجْعَلْن۪ي مِنْ وَرَثَةِ جَنَّةِ النَّع۪يمِ

“Rabbi heb lî hukman wa alhıqnî bis sâlihîn. Waj’al li lisâne sıdkın fîl âhırîn. Waj’alnî min verasati cennetin naîm.”

“My Lord! Grant me wisdom and join me with the righteous. And make for me a tongue of truthfulness in the later generations, and make me one of the inheritors of Paradise bliss.” (Surah Shu’ara, verses 83-85)

وَلَا تُخْزِن۪ي يَوْمَ يُبْعَثُونَ

“Walâ tuḣzinî yevme yub’aśûn(e).”

“(Do not) disgrace me on the Day of Resurrection.” (Surah Shu’ara, verse 87)

رَبِّ هَبْ ل۪ي مِنَ الصَّالِح۪ينَ

“Rabbi heb lî mines sâlihîn.”

“My Lord! Grant me [a son] of the righteous!” (Surah Saffat, verse 100)

رَبِّ اجْعَلْن۪ي مُق۪يمَ الصَّلٰوةِ وَمِنْ ذُرِّيَّت۪ي رَبَّـنَا وَتَقَبَّلْ دُعَٓاءِ

“Rabbic’alnî mukîmes salâti wa min zurriyyetî rabbenâ wa taqabbal duâi.”

”My Lord! Make me and my offspring establish the prayer, and our Lord, accept [and heed] our supplication!” (Surah Ibrahim, verse 40)

رَبَّـنَا اغْفِرْ ل۪ي وَلِوَالِدَيَّ وَلِلْمُؤْمِن۪ينَ يَوْمَ يَقُومُ الْحِسَابُ

“Rabbenâghfir lī wa li vâlideyy wa lil mu’minîne yevme yekûmul hisâb.”

“Our Lord! Forgive me, my parents, and the believers on the Day of Reckoning!” (Surah Ibrahim, verse 41)

رَبَّـنَا وَاجْعَلْنَا مُسْلِمَيْنِ لَكَ وَمِنْ ذُرِّيَّتِنَٓا اُمَّةً مُسْلِمَةً لَكَ وَاَرِنَا مَنَاسِكَنَا وَتُبْ عَلَيْنَا اِنَّكَ اَنْتَ التَّوَّابُ الرَّح۪يمُ

“Rabbenâ vec’alnâ müslimeyni leke wa min zürriyetinâ ümmeten müslimeten leke wa erinâ manâsikenâ wa tüb ‘aleynâ inneke entattevvâbürrahıym.”

“Our Lord! Make us both submitting to You and [make] from our offspring a community abiding by Your will. And show us our rites and rituals, and accept our repentance. Indeed, you are the Accepting of Repentance, the Merciful.” (Surah Baqarah, verse 128)

The Prayer of Joseph (peace be upon him)

رَبِّ السِّجْنُ اَحَبُّ اِلَيَّ مِمَّا يَدْعُونَن۪ٓي اِلَيْهِ وَاِلاَّ تَصْرِفْ عَنّ۪ي كَيْدَهُنَّ اَصْبُ اِلَيْهِنَّ وَاَكُنْ مِنَ الْجَاهِل۪ينَ

“Rabbi-ssicnu ehabbu ileyye mimmâ yed’ûnenî ileyh(i)(s) wa-illâ tasrif ‘annî keydehunne asbu ileyhinne waekun mine-lcâhilîn(e).”

“…My Lord! Confinement is more pleasing to me than what they invite me to. Unless You avert their scheme from me, I fear that I will yield to their desires and become of those who fail.” (Surah Yusuf, verse 33)

تَوَفَّن۪ي مُسْلِماً وَاَلْحِقْن۪ي بِالصَّالِح۪ينَ

“…Teveffenî musliman wa alhıqnî bis sâlihîn.”

“…(My Lord!) Cause me to die as a Muslim and join me with the righteous!” (Surah Yusuf, verse 101)

The Prayer of Ayyub (peace be upon him)

وَاَيُّوبَ اِذْ نَادٰى رَبَّهُٓ اَنّ۪ي مَسَّنِيَ الضُّرُّ وَاَنْتَ اَرْحَمُ الرَّاحِم۪ينَۚ

“…Wa Ayyube iz nada Rabbehu annî messeniyed durru wa ente arhamur râhimîn.”

Eyyub is also mentioned. Remember when he called upon his Lord, saying: “Indeed, adversity has struck me, and You are the Most Merciful of the merciful.”
