Dua (Supplication) is the admission of a servant’s powerlessness before the majesty of Allah, and requesting Allah’s grace and help with feelings of love and reverence. The word Dua contains meanings such as “to call, to summon, to want and to request help,” and it is mostly used in the sense of “the request and petition that takes place from the lesser to the greater, from below to above.” Praying has been praised and encouraged in verses and hadiths. “Fear Allah and implore Him.” (Al-A’raf, 7/56) “There is nothing more honorable before Allah than supplication.” (Tirmidhi, Adab, 1; Ibn Majah, Dua, 1)
Qalam Surah Verses 51 and 52. Arabic Recitation and Meaning
Recitation: “Ve in yekâdullezîne keferû le yuzlikûneke bi ebsârihim lemmâ semiûz zikra ve yekûlûne innehu le mecnûn. Wa mâ huve illâ zikrun lil âlemîn.”
Meaning: “Those who disbelieved would almost extinguish you with their eyes when they heard the Zikr (Quran). Yet, they say, ‘Indeed, he is a madman.’ But it is only a reminder for all the worlds.”

Regarding the Tafsir of the Verses
The hostility of the polytheists towards the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was at its peak. When they heard the Quran, their feelings of hostility intensified. They looked at the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) with hatred and resentment as if they would extinguish him with their eyes. Because they felt that the Quran was a divine word, they were amazed by it, but the only way to prevent people from believing in it was to attack the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and call him mad. Whereas the Quran is a divine reminder for all mankind. The Prophet is a noble messenger delivering that reminder to people.
Verse 51 shows that the evil eye (nazar) known as “eye-evil” is real. As the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:“The evil eye is a reality.” (Bukhari, Tibb 36; Muslim, Tibb 41, 42)“If any thing could pass by destiny, the evil eye would pass by destiny.” (Muslim, Tibb 42; Tirmidhi, Tibb 17)
Abu Sa’id Al-Hudri (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) sought refuge in Allah from jinn and the evil eye. Eventually, the Mu’awwizatayn, namely the Surahs Al-Falaq and An-Nas were revealed. After that, he began to seek refuge in Allah with the Mu’awwizatayn and abandoned other supplications.
