Meaning and Importance of the Rabbena Amenna Prayer
Du’a (Supplication) is a servant’s acknowledgement of their helplessness before Allah’s majesty, expressing feelings of love and reverence while seeking His grace and assistance. The word “Du’a” carries meanings such as “to call, to invoke, to desire, and to seek help”; it generally expresses the supplication made from the lesser to the greater, from the lower to the higher. Making Du’a is praised and encouraged in the Noble Qur’an and Hadith. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) narrated many hadiths about the virtues of Du’a. For example: “Seek forgiveness from Him with fear and hope.” (Al-A’raf, 7/56) and “There is nothing more precious in the sight of Allah than supplication.” (Tirmidhi, Adab, 1; Ibn Majah, Dua, 1)

Recitation: “…Rabbenâ âmennâ fagfir lenâ verhamnâ ve ente hayrur râhımîn.”
Meaning: “…Our Lord! We believe, so forgive us and have mercy upon us, for you are the Most Merciful of the merciful.” This prayer is a sincere expression of seeking forgiveness and mercy while taking refuge in Allah with faith.
