The Meaning of the Supplication “Rabbenasrif Anna Azabe Cehennem” Mentioned in Surah Furqan Verse 65
Du’a (Supplication) is a slave’s acknowledgement of his powerlessness before Allah’s majesty and sublimity, seeking His grace and assistance with feelings of love and reverence. The word “du’a” encompasses meanings such as “to call, to invoke, to desire, and to seek help”; it generally expresses the request made from the lesser to the greater, from the lower to the higher. Making du’a is praised and encouraged in verses and hadith. As stated in the verse: “Fear Him and hope for His mercy.” (Surah A’raf, 7/56) and “There is nothing more precious than supplication in the sight of Allah.” (Tirmidhi, Du’awat, 1; Ibn Majah, Dua, 1), these hadith reveal this truth.
