Meaning and Importance of the “Rabbi Heb Lī Hukman” Dua
Dua (Supplication) is a servant’s acknowledgement of their helplessness before Allah’s majesty, coupled with feelings of love and reverence, while seeking grace and assistance. The word duā, meaning “to call out, to beseech, to ask,” expresses the supplication from the lesser to the greater, from the lower to the higher. Praying has been praised and encouraged in verses and hadith (Prophetic traditions). For example: “Fear Him and hope for His mercy.” (Al-A’raf 7:56) and “There is nothing more precious with Allah than supplication.” (Tirmidhi, Duawāt, 1; Ibn Majah, Dua, 1) highlight the virtue of dua.

Surah Shu’ara: Verses 83-85
Recitation: “Rabbi heb lî hukmen wa alḥiqnī bis sālḥīn. Wa-jʿal lī lisān ṣidqin fīl ākhirīn. Wa-jʿalnī min warisat janati naʿīm.”
Meaning: “O my Lord! Grant me wisdom and join me with the righteous. And make for me a tongue of truthfulness in the hereafter. And make me one of the inheritors of the blissful Paradise.”
