What Does “Rabbi Innī Limā Anzaltَa Ilayya Min Hayrin Fakīr” Mean?
Dua (Supplication) is a servant’s acknowledgement of their powerlessness before the majesty of Allah and respectfully requesting His grace and assistance. The root of dua carries meanings such as “to call, to invoke, to ask,” and it’s generally used in the sense of entreaty from the lesser to the greater. Ayahs (Quranic verses) and hadith encourage and promote making dua. For example, Allah ﷻ says: “Fear Him and hope for His mercy.” (Surah Al-A’raf, 7/56). In a hadith, it is stated that: “There is nothing more precious than supplication in the sight of Allah.” (Tirmidhi, Adab, 1; Ibn Majah, Dua, 1)
The “Rabbi Innī Limā Anzaltَa Ilayya Min Hayrin Fakīr” Dua
Surah Al-Qasas: Verse 24
Recitation: “…Rabbi innī limā enzelte ileyye min hayrin fakīr.”
Meaning: “…My Lord, I am in need of every good You send down to me.” This dua expresses the servant’s need for Allah and their longing for His blessings.
