Surahs to Recite When Setting Out
Our Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) has exemplified us by recommending prayers and surahs to recite both when setting out on a journey and upon its completion. These prayers are important tools for seeking Allah’s protection, invoking blessings, and ensuring a safe journey.
SURAH TO RECITE WHEN SETTING OUT
- Al-Kafirun
- An-Nasr,
- Al-Ikhlas,
- Al-Falaq and
- An-Nas surahs.
Our Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) has expressed the virtue of reciting these five surahs when setting out on a journey as follows:
“If you wish to be among those who are in the best condition and have the most abundant provisions among your companions when you set out on a journey, then recite these five surahs: Al-Kafirun, An-Nasr, Al-Ikhlas, Al-Falaq and An-Nas surahs. Begin each surah with Bismillah (In the name of Allah) and end it with Bismillah.” (Heysemi, X, 134)
