Learn the comprehensive supplication taught by our Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) to his companions.
Abu Umama (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated:
THE SUPPLICATION ENCOMPASSING ALL PRAYERS
The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) recited many supplications, but we could not memorize them. So, we said:
– O Messenger of Allah! You recite many supplications, and we cannot memorize them. Upon this, the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
“Should I not teach you a supplication that encompasses all supplications? Say:
Allahumma inni as’aluka min khayri ma sa’alahu minhu nabiyyuna Muhammadun sallallahu alayhi wa sallam. Wa na’uzu bika min sharri masta’azah minh hu nabiyyuna Muhammadun sallallahu alayhi wa sallam. Wa anta al-musta’an, wa ‘alaykal-balagh, wa la hawla wa la quwwata illa billah:
O Allah! I ask you for the good that my Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) asked of you. And we seek refuge in You from the evil that my Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) sought refuge from You. Help comes only from You. You are the one who brings to fulfillment desires in this world and the Hereafter. Strength to avoid sin and ability to worship can only be attained with Allah’s help.” (Tirmidhi, Daawat 89)
