The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) reports the prayer that believers will recite while passing over the Sirat Bridge.
The Messenger of Allah -sallâllâhu aleyhi ve sellem- describes these terrifying moments:
THE PRAYER TO RECITE WHILE PASSING OVER THE SIRAT BRIDGE
“The motto of the believers on the Sirat Bridge is: ‘O Lord, grant me safety, grant me safety!’ (Tirmidhi, Qiyamah, 9/2432)
“…Those who pass over the Sirat first will do so at the speed of lightning… Then like the wind, then like a bird’s flight and like a man running swiftly. Their deeds will carry them across in this manner. At this time, your Prophet stands at the head of the Sirat and constantly says:
“O Lord, grant me safety, grant me safety!” (Muslim, Iman, 329)
This situation continues until people’s deeds prevent them from passing over the Sirat. Even a person comes, unable to walk, and tries to crawl. There are hooks hanging on either side of the Sirât. They are tasked with capturing those they are commanded to seize. Some people are caught and wounded by these hooks and are saved, while others are thrown into Hell.” (Muslim, Iman, 329)
