Read the prayer of Hazrat Muhyiddin Ibn al-Arabi, one of his true friends, in our article.
Ibn Arabi -may Allah have mercy on him- prays:
THE PRAYER OF HAZRAT IBN AL-ARABI
O Allah! Bind our hearts to Yourself. Make us among those who rely and trust in You in all their affairs, and those who surrender (tawakkul). Encompass us with Your mercy that is with You. Make us of those who attain truth, those who show the way (guidance). Do not make us of those who stray and lead others astray.
Our Lord! Forgive us and those who came before us in faith, and do not place any malice in our hearts towards believers. Join us with Your mercy among Your righteous servants. You are the Most Forgiving. Write good for us in this world and the Hereafter. We have come to You seeking repentance, O our Lord. We believe in what You have revealed. We follow that which your Messenger brought to us. Now write us down with the witnesses.
O Allah, I ask You for everything I desired and sought refuge from, all of it, for myself, my parents, my relatives, my kinfolk, my close ones and neighbors, those who are with me as Muslims, those who know me or hear about me and speak well of me, those who do not know me, and for the parents, children, siblings, spouses, tribes, and relatives of all these people, for believing men and Muslim women, and for their survivors and deceased, for everyone who thinks good of me, whether they think it or not. Grant them everything You grant me. Protect them as You protect me. Indeed, You are the Giver of every goodness and the Dispeller of every harm, and You have power over all things.
O Allah, indeed I have spent with my soul, my person, my wealth, and my religion in support of Your servants. I will not demand anything from them, neither in this world nor in the Hereafter for all of this. You are witness to that, O my Lord!
O Allah, send blessings and peace upon Muhammad, and upon his family. Bestow goodness and blessings upon Muhammad and his family, as You sent blessings and peace upon Ibrahim, and upon his family, and bestowed blessings upon them… Indeed, You are the Praiseworthy and the Majestic. Grant him the position of intercession (wasila). Raise him to degrees of excellence and high ranks. Give him the Promised Noble Station (Maqam-i Mahmud). Indeed, You do not break Your promise. Reward him with good for our sake and the sake of his community. Indeed, he -peace be upon him- fulfilled the duty of conveying the message as required. He gave sincere advice to his community. He exerted all his power in this regard.
