The Invocation of Hz. Ali (r.a.), One of the First Muslims

Emirul Mu’minin Ali -may Allah bless his face- supplicated to Allah with the following words:

The Supplication of Hz. Ali (r.a.)

“O Lord, I beseech You to guide me to Your Tawhid (Oneness), which you established as the foundation when creating minds, which you made a condition when accepting covenants, which you legislated by sending prophets and revealing books, which You have made obligatory with acts of obedience and finality in devotion, and which You commanded as a condition for acceptance of good deeds and forgiveness of sins.

I desire a path that encompasses the stations of creed (‘aqidah), actions (amal), character (akhlaq), and knowledge (ma’rifah) – all the joys of servitude.”

“Do not let me fall into excess or deficiency. Do not divert me from the most secure and moderate path of truth.

Do not withhold Your help in times of difficulty, nor stumble my feet as has befallen many commoners (awamm) and elites (hawass). Assist me and do not deviate me from the straight path.”

The Desire for the Straight Path

“Guide us to the straight path.” Or, “Show us the straight path.”
