The Prayer of Prophet Job and Its Meaning
Prophet Job (peace be upon him) is one of the important prophets mentioned in the Noble Quran. Prophet Job, considered an example of patience and gratitude, inspires believers with his prayers.
PRAYER OF PROPHET JOB
The supplications that Prophet Job (peace be upon him) made to Allah while facing difficulties and illnesses hold an important place in the Noble Quran. These prayers remind us of the importance of patience and making dua (supplication).
Prophet Job’s Prayers with Verses
Some of the supplications that Prophet Job (peace be upon him) made to Allah are mentioned in the following verses:
وَمَا أَدْرَى أَنَكَّنْتُمْ شَاهِدِينَ ٱللَّهِ إِنَّنِي مَسَّنِيَ الضُّرُّ وَأَنْتَ أَرْحَمُ ٱلرَّحْمِينَ
(Indeed, mention) Eyyub, when he called to his Lord, saying, ‘Indeed, adversity has touched me, and you are the Most Merciful of the merciful.’ (Surah Anbiya, 21:83)
وَاذْكُرْ عَبْدَنَا أَيُّوبَ إِذْ نَادَى رَبَّهُ أَنِّي مَسَّنِيَ الشَّيْطَانُ بِنُصْبٍ وَعَذَابٍ
“Mention Our servant Eyyub, who called upon his Lord in distress [saying], ‘Indeed, Satan has touched me with weariness and pain.’ (Surah Sad, 38:41)
Allah’s Acceptance of the Prayer
The Exalted Allah, in response to Prophet Job’s prayer, commanded for the healing of his illness:
“Strike the ground with your foot. [There will come forth] water to drink and cool.” (Surah Sad, 38:42) Job struck the ground, washed with the water that emerged, and drank from it, thereby being cured of all internal and external illnesses.
Acceptance of Prophet Job’s Prayer
The Exalted Allah announced the acceptance of Prophet Job’s prayer as follows:
“And We answered him and removed what he was afflicted by, and gave him compassion from Us and [a reminder for] the supplicating servants.” (Surah Anbiya, 21:84) We also restored to him his family and added to them in proportion to what they had lost.
