The Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) Supplications
Those who listened to the supplications of the Messenger of Allah –peace and blessings be upon him– after the night prayer were filled with meanings that mingled with a feeling of deep peace in their hearts. Here are excerpts from the Prophet’s (PBUH) supplications:
O Allah! I ask You for a blessing from Your bounty that may guide my heart, regulate my affairs, order my confusion, instill perfect faith into my soul, and righteous deeds in my outward appearance, grant me guidance according to what pleases You, bestow upon me a loving friend, and protect me from all evil!
O Allah, grant me such faith and certainty that no doubt of disbelief remains. Grant me such mercy that I may attain a high rank in Your sight in this world and the Hereafter.
O Allah! I ask for deliverance with Your grace in whatever You decree concerning us, and I pray for the most honorable station among the martyrs, and I wish for the life of Your blessed servants, and I seek help against our enemies!
O Allah! Although my understanding is limited and my deeds are few, my needs come to Your door (and I ask You to fulfill them). I am in need of Your mercy, and I present my condition to You.
O Lord, who governs affairs and fulfills them, who meets the needs of hearts and is the healer! Just as you separate the seas, separate me from the torment of Hell, protect me from destruction and the torment of the grave.
O Allah! If any good has been given to one of Your servants or a grace promised to one of Your creations, and I have not realized it, nor reached my intention, and therefore it has remained outside what I asked for, then, O Lord of the Worlds, I implore You for its occurrence as well, and I ask you to bestow it upon me with Your mercy.
O Allah! O possessor of the strong rope and the straight path! In the Day of Resurrection, when You promise Hell for the disbelievers, I seek refuge in You from Hell, and in the eternal day that follows, I desire to reach those who are close to Your Majesty, with those who bow and prostrate much, and fulfill their oaths, and dwell in Paradise. You are the possessor of boundless mercy, You are the possessor of countless love, You do what You will.
O Allah! Make us guides who do not lead astray and are guided, make our friends friendly to us, and our enemies hostile to us. We love you for the sake of your love for us, and we hate those who disobey You because of Your hatred for them.
O Allah! This is our supplication. Accepting it with Your generosity and grace is up to You. This is our effort; You are our support.
O Allah! Give me a light in my heart, a light in my grave; give me a light before me, a light behind me; a light on my right, a light on my left; a light above me, a light below me; a light in my ear, a light in my eye; a light in my hair, a light in my skin; a light in my flesh, a light in my blood; and a light in my bones!
O Allah! Increase my light, give me a light that will be equivalent to everything I have said, and give me a light that will encompass what I have not said!
I glorify the One who has assumed majesty, and made it His attribute. I glorify the One who has assumed greatness and, because of this, bestows abundantly upon His servants. I glorify the One to whom praise and glorification are exclusively due. I glorify the possessor of grace and blessings. I glorify the possessor of majesty and generosity. I glorify the possessor of glory and bounty. He is absolutely free from all imperfections. (Tirmidhi, Du’a, 30/3419)
