PRAYER FOR VISITING GRAVES
Arabic Text of the Prayer for Visiting Graves:
Esselâmu aleyküm dâra kavmin mü’minîne. Ve innâ biküm lahikûne ve innâ lillahi wa inna ileyhi raciûne lekad esabtüm hayran becîlen ve sebektüm şerran tavilen.
Pronunciation of the Prayer for Visiting Graves (in Turkish transliteration):
Esselâmu aleyküm dâr kavmin mü’minîne. Ve innâ biküm lahikûne ve innâ lillahi wa inna ileyhi raciûne lekad esabtüm hayran becîlen ve sebektüm şerran tavilen.
Meaning of the Prayer for Visiting Graves:
“Peace be upon you, abode of a believing people. And indeed, we will follow you, and indeed, we are belonging to Allah and to Him we shall return. Indeed, you have attained a wonderful good fortune and left behind a long evil.” (Ali al-Muttaqi, XIII, 299/36864; cf. Muslim, Taharah, 12; Ibn Majah, Janazah, 36)
