The Prophet (PBUH)’s Night Worship and Recitations

Narrated by Lady Aisha (RA), the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) would, upon waking for night prayer, repeat the following remembrances ten times:

The Prophet’s Night Remembrances and Supplications

  • “Allahu Akbar”
  • “Alhamdulillah”
  • “SubhanAllah wa bihamdih”
  • “Subhana al-Maliki al-Quddus”
  • “Astaghfirullah”
  • “La ilaha illallah”

After these remembrances, he would recite the following supplication in Arabic ten times:

اَللّٰهُمَّ إِنِّي أعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ ضِيقِ الدُّنْيَا وَضِيقِ يَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ

“O Allah! I seek refuge in You from the distress of this world and the distress of the Day of Resurrection.” (Abu Dawood, Adab, 101/5085)

These night remembrances and supplications were an important part of the Prophet’s (ﷺ) worship life and serve as an example for Muslims.
