Hz. Prophet Muhammad (Peace and Blessings be upon him) Said ‘Amen’ to Three Supplications While Ascending the Pulpit
Narrated by Ka’b bin Ucra -may Allah be pleased with him-:
The Prophet (PBUH)’s Saying ‘Amin’ to Three Supplications
Rasulullah (Peace and Blessings be upon him) one day ordered his companions;
“Approach the pulpit!”
And they approached. When he reached the first step, he said:
“Amin!”
When he reached the second step, again;
“Amin!”
And when he reached the third step, he said in the same manner:
“Amin!”
When he descended from the pulpit, they asked:
–O Messenger of Allah! Today we heard things from you that we have not heard before. (What is the wisdom behind this?)
The Prophet (Peace and Blessings be upon him) replied:
“Gabriel -peace be upon him- appeared to me and said, ‘May one who reaches Ramadan and their sins are not forgiven be far from mercy!’ And I said, ‘Amin!’.
When I ascended the second step, he said, ‘May one who is mentioned along with your name but does not send blessings upon you be far from mercy!’ And I said, ‘Amin!’.
When I reached the third step, he said, ‘May one who has a parent or both parents age and they do not please them (and thus do not earn paradise) be far from mercy!’ And I said, ‘Amin!’." (Hakim, IV, 170/7256; Tirmizi, Du’a, 100/3545)
